The 3-3-3 Rule
Three days for initial decompression, three weeks to learn the routine of your household, and three months to be relaxed in your home.
When you are fostering, adopting, or you are a new pet parent this is extremely important to consider.
Please know as rewarding as adopting an animal is, it is also lifetime commitment and requires a lot of preparation, responsibility, time, and financial stability. Please ensure all family or household members are in agreement with adopting the animal.

Once an Adoption application is received, we will contact you within 24 hours to confirm we received your application. All applications are seriously and thoroughly reviewed and are subject to approval by Shelter Free Rescue NY.

The next steps will take place:
• Reference Check
•Contact your veterinarian – Please let them know we will be contacting them
• Landlord Pet Policy Verification if not the homeowner
• Home Visit – Will be scheduled

The adoption/donation fee is $450.00. If you are a foster fail the application fee is $375.

Once approved for adopting one of our rescues, and all references have been verified an adoption agreement will be sent to you to complete and sign.
In the event after adopting one of Shelter Free Rescue NY animals and for whatever reason it is not working out, the animal must be returned back to our rescue.
